A Nightly Ritual with Kissed by a Rose Oil, from Toma
One of the loveliest things about this community is watching how people make our oils their own. Toma, a longtime friend of The Loving Fungi, shared how she uses Kissed by a Rose Oil as an evening practice, a way of cleansing the skin and releasing the day. We're passing it along in her words.
🌹 A word on rose
🌹 I like to use this as a nightly ritual for cleansing the skin, releasing the day, and returning gently to myself.
This is also a beautiful oil and ritual to use before a yoga or meditation practice.
🌹 Rose, the Queen of the Flowers, teaches us to be tender and sweet, while holding very strong boundaries. To hold the breathtaking beauty of life, along with its deep grief- in one heart. I believe that using rose oil soothes our hearts that ache, and brings us gently back to ourselves.
🌹 Prepare
-
Swish/gargle for a few moments with sea-salted water, spit, and gently scrape your tongue.
-
Swish with a pulling oil for a few minutes while brushing your hair. If you like, apply a little hair oil, then sweep your hair away from your face or braid it.
-
Spit out the oil. Place a drop of a dental oil* on your fingertips and pass it along the floss. Floss teeth and then brush them.
-
Wash your hands.
*I love a blend of sea buckthorn, myrrh, clove, cinnamon, sweet thyme.
🌹 Cleanse
Apply several drops of Kissed by a Rose Oil to your fingertips and disperse the oil gently between your hands.
Bring your hands toward your face and take several deep breaths. As you breathe, consciously release everyone and everything to the love of God. Release your day. Your work. Your family. The conversations that linger. The people you are having difficulty with. The things you cannot control. The things you wish had gone differently.
🌹 Massage + Cleanse
Begin gently massaging the oil into your skin using slow, circular movements.
Move around the eye sockets, taking care to avoid the eyes themselves. Press gently into the forehead and massage the temples.
With your fingertips, gently pinch and release along the jawline, moving upward toward the ears. Give the ears a squeeze before sweeping your hands downward along the neck, releasing any tension you may be carrying there.
-
I like to massage my two peace fingers gently along my collarbones, moving outward and slowly releasing the tension that collects there and releasing the lymphatic system. 🌹
🌹 Remove
Moisten a baby washcloth with warm water—I especially love using a hemp washcloth—and to a corner, add a few more drops of Kissed by a Rose Oil.
Gently massage the corner of the cloth over the places you have massaged with your oil, paying special attention to the nose and any areas where makeup or sunscreen has been applied. Pay attention to ear lobes, and behind your ears. Rinse your cloth with warm water and on another corner of the cloth, apply a few more drops of oil.
Continue and repeat this process with until the skin feels completely clean.* Skin should feel soft but not too oily. You can always rinse your cloth with warm water and sweep any remaining oil away.
*On days that I don’t wear makeup, I only need to repeat this process twice. If heavy/waterproof makeup or sunscreen is used, I always advise to repeat this process more.
There is no need to rush. Let the cleansing be part of the release. Quiet your mind. Release the day.
Thank you, Toma, for sharing your practice with us. If you have your own way of using Kissed by a Rose Oil, we'd love to hear it.
